The Hobart and William Smith sailing and rowing teams have advanced to national championship events. William Smith rowing is competing in the NCAA Division III National Championship, Heron sailors have advanced to the ICSA National Championships, Hobart rowing will compete in the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship, and HWS sailors will vie for the ICSA Dinghy National Championship.

The Heron sailing team secured a spot in theCollege Sailing/Sperry Womens National Championshipafter placing eighth in the national semifinals in San Diego on May 24 and 25. The championship races began on May 26 and the Gerald C. Miller trophy will be presented to the national champion on May 27.

On Thursday, sailors Bailey Carter 19, Sarah Warren 18 and Erin Condon 17 represented the Herons in the A Division, earning 106 points to finish ninth. Heron sailors Christine Maloney 17, Lindsey Kloc 19 and Kate Homet 19 earned 86 points and finished seventh in the B Division, placing the Herons in eighth place overall and securing a spot in the championship. This is the 15threturn since 1999 to the national championship for the Herons.

Meanwhile at Sacramento State Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma, the William Smith rowers will take to the water led by coxswain Susan Tuvell 16. Other members of the Herons 1V are Karoline Loretan 17, Laurie VanBenschoten 17, Elizabeth Houston 18, Elizabeth Warren 18, Kylie Wyskochil 18, Grace Hutton 16, Margaret Cameron 17 and Nicole Guardino 18. On Friday morning, the first varsity eight raced against Ithaca College, Williams College and Wesleyan University. The second varsity eight for the Herons is led by coxswain Hannah Glenshaw 16 along with teammates Paige Usiak 19, Madelaine Hamilton 19, Madeline Cook 19, Elizabeth Lewis 19, Megan Miskovsky 16, Jules Picuri 19, Katie Frohman 19 and Lauren Pomerantz 16, who raced against rowers representing Bates College and Williams College. The Herons will be back on the water later today, May 27. This is William Smiths seventh team appearance in the NCAA Division III Rowing Championship.

Hobart and William Smith sailing will compete in the Coed Dinghy National Semifinals and Championship on May 31 June 3.

Hobart rowing will compete in The Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship regatta on June 3 5 on Mercer Lake near Princeton University.
