1 April 2024 Adams MSM’24 Embarks on Exciting Marketing Journey with NextCorps By Annette Stephens '24
Morgan Adams MSM ’24 will step into the professional world as a marketing and content coordinator at NextCorps, Inc. following graduation.
After earning her Master of Science in Management in May, Morgan Adams MSM ’24 will join NextCorps Inc. as a marketing and content coordinator. In her position, she will create engaging content and graphic design across digital platforms and analyze media analytics to optimize NextCorps’ strategies for reaching technology innovators.
“I've been drawn to the business world, especially marketing, because of its creative side,” says Adams. “I love learning and growing, and working with different tech businesses at NextCorps will give me plenty of opportunities to do just that. Every day will bring new goals and projects to tackle, keeping things exciting and fresh.”
Adams connected with NextCorps as part of HWS’ Management Career Trek to Rochester, N.Y. where she had the opportunity to tour the company with Holly Barrett, NextCorps’ marketing director.
David Grome '07, Senior Managing Director, Business Development for Greater Rochester Enterprise, was integral to linking HWS and Barrett and helped establish the Career Treks with NextCorps.
"The evolution of higher education as well as Hobart and William Smith Colleges requires constant adaptation," Grome says. "Supporting Career Treks and the HWS Career Network fosters an opportunity to bridge the steadfast principles of a liberal arts education to the dynamic pace of industry. This type of program helps connect the past, present and future of the Colleges."
“The initial connection forged during the Career Trek proved pivotal in facilitating my journey toward securing the position. I couldn't be more grateful for the invaluable role it played in propelling me toward this opportunity,” says Adams.
Adams says the MSM program provided her with leadership and communication skills for the position. “My experience in public speaking, honed through class presentations and self-reflection, has equipped me with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and confidently. Additionally, leading group projects has strengthened my ability to collaborate with diverse teams, delegate tasks effectively and drive projects forward—skills that are invaluable in a marketing environment where teamwork and project management are often paramount.”
Grome echoes the importance and value of the skills and relationships cultivated at HWS. "Companies need graduates who can quickly get up to speed and make an impact. The Colleges' focus on an interdisciplinary education combined with Career Services activated through hands-on experiences such as internships and Career Trek allow students to readily identify, analyze, and interpret needs of a business."
Adams graduated from Wells College, majoring in business administration and management. There, she played softball, basketball and volleyball and was a representative for the Student Advisory Committee. She also completed an internship with the Sullivan Center of Entrepreneurship as a marketing intern and was the Grand Award Winner in Wells College’s annual Business Competition. In her time at HWS, she has served as a marketing coordinator for the Bozzuto Center for Entrepreneurship working with local wineries such as Trestle 31 and Anthony Road. She was also a semi-finalist for the Pitch Competition and is co-president of the Advertising Club.
