26 July 2024 HWS Wins National CASE Silver and Bronze
HWS’ communications and marketing materials receive national recognition.
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has recognized Hobart and William Smith with 2024 Circle of Excellence Awards for outstanding achievements in communications and marketing materials for student recruitment. HWS earned Silver in the “Publications: Student Recruitment” category and Bronze in the “Long Video: Student Audience” category.
The nonprofit’s annual awards honor inspiring and creative work by staff at colleges, universities and schools around the world.
HWS earned silver for the 2023 print publication titled, “We’re Planning for the Future: Yours. Career Preparation at HWS.” The 26-page publication focuses on outcomes, highlighting how HWS consistently and successfully prepares students for meaningful lives and fulfilling careers. Every admitted student to Hobart and William Smith received the publication in 2023.
“A great attention-grabbing cover accompanies this piece, which focuses on outcomes--extremely important in today's market,” the judges shared. The cover was taken at the Bozzuto Boathouse at night by photographer Kevin Colton L.H.D. ’23.
In addition to the photography, the judges praised the content and cost effectiveness. “A great example of using money in an efficient way ($4.76 per item). The content is clear and includes great, specific examples. This piece stands out!”
The publication was designed by North Charles Street Design Organization.
Other colleges and universities recognized in the student recruitment publications category include University of Huddersfield, England, Whitman College, University of Iowa, Northern Michigan University and Brandeis University.
HWS also won bronze in the long video for a student audience category for the “Lives of Consequence” video shown at Admitted Student Days, information sessions, junior visits and open houses for prospective students.
The video was filmed and produced by Madhouse Creative. The video features Hrithik Biswas ’23, Samari Brown ’23, Matthew Nusom ’23, Tess Weber ’23, Sadie Winton ’23 and Jett Wright ’23.
The judges wrote, “We offer our congratulations to the Hobart and William Smith team behind this purposeful video. The video was authentic, allowing students to articulate their relationship to the college and its mission in their own way. The video delivered something for everyone. Production quality was high, and fabulous b-roll!”
Other colleges and universities recognized in the video for a student audience category include: Stanford University, Tufts University, University of California – Santa Barbara and Boston University.
