3 October 2024 • Alums Wu '12 Featured in Perspectives

Jenny Wu ’12 is one of nine global contemporary artists featured in a pop-up gallery that presents a sweeping view of the possibilities of nature-based abstraction.

Wu's painting "10 Years Will Get You Shrimp On The Way Out," 2023, latex paint and resin on wood panel, 24" x 18" x 2.50."

The work of Jenny Wu ’12 is featured in Morton Fine Arts’ “Perspectives” pop-up gallery from Oct. 2 - Oct. 26 at Washington Square, 1050 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, D.C.

An opening reception will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 from 2-5 p.m.

Wu’s process of layering latex paint, cutting it into pieces and reassembling them into geometric compositions defies the standard boundaries between painting and sculpture, and her titles are often witty, challenging, and confrontational, asking the viewer to rethink their assumptions.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums including Denise Bibro Fine Art, Katzen Museum, Huntington Museum of Art, Reece Museum, Vilnius Academy of Arts in Lithuania, and CICA Museum in South Korea.

Wu is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Trinity College and the chair of Touchstone Foundation for the Arts in Washington, D.C. She holds bachelor’s degrees in studio art and architectural studies from Hobart and William Smith and an M.F.A. in studio art from American University.
