2 May 2025 • Alums Scholarship Day of Donors 2025
In its third year, Scholarship Day of Donors garnered donations from 525 HWS community members, contributing over $270,000.
Scholarship Day of Donors proved to be a game-changer for student success. More than 525 alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends of HWS came together, contributing over $270,000. Their generosity will make an immediate impact, with each $25,000 raised establishing a new Scholarship Day of Donors Annual Fund Scholarship ready to be distributed in the upcoming academic year.
Scholarship Day of Donors
During the Scholarship Day of Donors celebration, students wrote personal thank you notes to faculty and staff on campus.
The HWS Board of Trustees contributed $100,000, which was unlocked as donor milestones were achieved. Trustee Linda Arrington ’88 set up a dollar-for-dollar match just for recurring donors. More than 125 parents also played a pivotal role, unlocking an ice cream food truck and petting zoo sponsored by the Parents Executive Committee during “Paws for a Break” in the last week of classes.
Aside from the fundraising success, students took the opportunity to express their gratitude by writing notes to faculty and staff who have left a positive impact on their HWS journey. Hundreds of these heartfelt notes were displayed in the Scandling Campus Center, reflecting the appreciation across campus. These notes will be delivered to their recipients as the semester wraps up.
Vice President of Advancement Steve Caraher emphasized the significance of Scholarship Day of Donors in engaging students. “Scholarship Day of Donors is also an opportunity to communicate to current students about the importance of philanthropy, the annual fund and paying it forward,” he says. “Tomorrow’s donors are today’s students, and engaging with them on a giving day to share more about why we fundraise and that collective giving from many adds up to something special.”
Thanks to the Annual Fund, every aspect of the student experience is enhanced, from academics to guaranteed internships to scholarships. To learn more, visit https://www.hws.edu/alum/annual-fund.aspx.
