24 March 2025 Bozzuto Center Marketing Coordinators

Graduate students provide marketing expertise to local businesses.

The HWS Master of Science in Management program offers graduate students hands-on learning opportunities through real world experience. As part of the Bozzuto Center Marketing Coordinator Internship program, Julia Kunzelmann ’24, MSM ’25, Kirsten Nelson ’24, MSM ’25 and Isabella Renzi ’24, MSM ’25 provided marketing consulting services to several Finger Lakes businesses.

Launched in August 2024, the internship connected students with Trestle Thirty One Winery, Anthony Road Wine Company, WasteNaut Consulting, LLC and the Geneva Local Development Corporation.

At Trestle Thirty One Winery, the interns analyzed their social media strategy, developing a content calendar and best practices guide. Their efforts highlighted the need for a dedicated Trestle Thirty One social media intern, leading to a successful hire to manage and expand Trestle’s online presence. They also created print materials for marketing and events.

Nova Cadmatre, Trestle Thirty One’s founder and head winemaker, praised the team’s contributions.

"I have greatly enjoyed working with the HWS marketing interns,” Cadmatre says. “This cohort brought wonderful energy and valuable insight to our social media strategy. We have since built on their recommendations and have regular posts that have helped grow our online engagement."

At Anthony Road Wine Company, a family-owned Finger Lakes winery, the interns worked to enhance engagement with Millennial and Gen-Z audiences. Meanwhile, for WasteNaut Consulting, LLC, a company focused on sustainable event solutions, the team assisted with logo design and conducted market research to identify industry trends and opportunities.

The interns also collaborated with the Geneva Local Development Corporation to promote sustainable growth and economic vitality in Geneva’s downtown, lakefront and neighborhoods. Their projects included social media strategies, logo development, web enhancements and a unique “kiddie survey” designed to gather input from children about their vision for local development.

On campus, Kunzelmann, Nelson and Renzi have revitalized the Advertising Club, providing students with opportunities to develop marketing and advertising skills through collaboration, leadership and hands-on experience. The club is now run by undergraduate student leaders, Shia Wade '25 and Jada Young '28, and meets on Thursdays at 5 p.m. in the Stine Room of the Adams Intercultural Center.

Graduate Programs Career Coordinator Sam Halfman emphasizes the impact of the internship, both for students and businesses. “Our Marketing Internship, embedded within the Master of Science in Management program bridges the gap between theory and practice, allowing students to apply strategic concepts in real-world settings. By collaborating with businesses and institutions, interns gain insights that enrich their academic learning while delivering tangible value to their host organizations," he says.
