8 October 2025 • Alums Falchuk '93 Unveils Landmark Posthumous Interview with Jane Goodall

Netflix’s Famous Last Words, created by Falchuk ’93, resonates as a profound farewell.

Award-winning writer, director and producer Brad Falchuk ’93, L.H.D.’14 celebrates the release of his most haunting and visionary project yet: Famous Last Words: Dr. Jane Goodall, now streaming globally on Netflix. Featuring interviews conducted before her passing, the series premiered this week as a tribute to the late primatologist, activist and global icon.

During a recent visit to campus, Brad Falchuk ’93, L.H.D. ’14 discusses his career and answers questions from students in Bartlett Theatre.

Falchuk, whose credits include the groundbreaking series Pose and American Horror Story, and whose Netflix crime drama The Brothers Sun debuted last year, leads this deeply intimate conversation with Goodall.

“The experience for the audience and the participant is moving, odd and transcendent,” says Falchuk in a Netflix article, calling the format “a true celebration of life and the opportunity to have the last word.”

In the newly released episode, Goodall reflects on her life’s work, relationships and the state of the world, and does so with unguarded honesty. Critics have already responded with praise. Decider calls the premiere “a riveting final goodbye … the conversation leaves a profound impact.”

Common Sense Media describes Goodall as “utterly herself; both playful and serious” and notes the interview “is a lovely legacy for her to leave with us.”

At HWS, Falchuk majored in English with a concentration in theater. During an independent study with Associate Professor Emeritus Elisabeth Lyon, he penned the early script that would help land him a spot at the American Film Institute for screenwriting. After graduating from AFI, he began writing for television, eventually contributing to Nip/Tuck. Over the years, his credits expanded to include hit shows such as Glee, Scream Queens and American Crime Story, earning him two Golden Globes and nine Emmy nominations (including a win for American Crime Story in 2016).
