12 June 2025 • Alums Reunion 2025: Celebrating a Record-Setting $12M in Support for HWS

Reunion 2025 reminded us of what it truly means to go Further Together. From celebrations on the Quad to engaging moments back in the classroom, it was a weekend full of connections and tradition.

At the heart of the Reunion 2025 celebration was a remarkable show of generosity. Together, the milestone Reunion classes ending in 0’s and 5’s raised more than $12 million in support of HWS—an extraordinary testament to the enduring commitment of our alumni and a major milestone toward our historic $400 million Further Together campaign. With this outpouring of support, the campaign total now stands at $319 million.

Vice President for Advancement Steve Caraher extends his sincere gratitude to the more than 80 volunteers from the Classes of 1965 through 2020 who led the charge, rallying classmates around class goals and building momentum for giving. “Their efforts helped turn Reunion weekend into a celebration not only of our past, but of a shared investment in the future Hobart and William Smith,” Caraher says.

During Saturday’s Reunion Forum, the spotlight turned to the 50th Reunion Classes of 1975, who not only met but exceeded all their fundraising goals, including raising a total of $1,957,792 since their last Reunion. Their efforts earned them the coveted Anderton Cup, a sterling silver trophy awarded each year to a 50th Reunion class that meets or surpasses the giving benchmarks of its predecessors. Established by James F. Anderton IV ’65 after his own 50th Reunion, the award has become a hallmark of friendly class-giving competition.

Also recognized were the Post-50th Reunion Classes—1955, 1960, 1965, and 1970—who collectively contributed $1,714,383 this year and have given an inspiring $7,037,320 since their last milestone reunions. The Class of 1965 was celebrated for establishing the Classes of 1965 Annual Internship Fund, which supports up to 20 students annually as they explore career opportunities.

During the Reunion Forum, two of HWS newest alumni presented the Class of 2025’s first gift to HWS. Through HWS Forever, a new senior tradition focused on service, engagement and philanthropy, 116 members of the graduating class contributed more than $3,000 with 32% participation. Their enthusiasm set the tone for a future of continued engagement.

Reunion is a time to reflect on the past, but it’s also a moment to look forward—to reaffirm the essential mission of a Hobart and William Smith education: to prepare our students to lead lives of consequence.

“Throughout the weekend, it was clear that the value of an HWS education has never been more important. Thanks to the generosity, leadership and spirit of our alumni community, Reunion 2025 was more than a celebration. It was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together,” Caraher says.
