President's Medal
Henry A. Rosenberg, Jr. '52, L.H.D.'02
In recognition of his longstanding, steadfast commitment to the Colleges, Trustee Henry A. Rosenberg Jr. '52, L.H.D.'02, a member of the Board of Trustees since 1990, was recently awarded the President's Medal by President Mark D. Gearan.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., Rosenberg graduated from the McDonough School in Maryland, where he excelled in lacrosse, football and basketball. An economics major at Hobart College, he played lacrosee and was a member of Phi Phi Delta, the Temple Club and Orange Key Society. After serving in the U.S. Army, he joined his family's company at its Houston refinery in 1954. In his more than 50 years with Crown Central Petroleum Corp. in Baltimore, Md., he has held the positions of Chairman of the Board, CEO and president.
A member of the Seneca Society, an honorary degree recipient and Trustee, Rosenberg was inducted into the Hobart College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Maryland Business Hall of Fame in 2002.
Rosenberg has also established the Henry and Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Foundation, which seeks to improve the human condition through promoting life-long educational opportunities, research advances and a spectrum of cultural programming.
