James V. Zurer '63
James V. Zurer '63 was a member of the Hobart and William Smith team that became the undefeated champions of the G.E. College Bowl in 1961. The victory brought national attention to Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and is attributed for raising both donor interest and prospective students' attention.
Recognizing the importance of global citizenship and fueled by the same intellectual curiosity that made Zurer an excellent varsity scholar, he dedicated his life to helping others. After earning a master's degree in American Diplomatic History from Cornell University, Zurer served the Peace Corps in Thailand for two years, strengthening communities. Through his subsequent service to the U.S. Department of Labor as a program analyst and social planner, Zurer tirelessly coordinated and developed projects that improved the American workplace for all citizens.
Developing a passion for Italy, Zurer traveled widely across the length and breadth of the peninsula, founding Zurer Travels. Through Zurer Travels, he has provided expert advice and inside information on authentic Italian destinations, earning him a recommendation in Fodor's Italy guidebook.
