Good Afternoon,

We write after a tense weekend as we all watched the situation unfolding in Ukraine. Friday afternoon’s webinar discussion moderated by President Joyce Jacobsen with John Sipher ’83, P’19, a member of the CIA’s clandestine service for 28 years, and Professor of Political Science David Ost, an expert on Eastern European politics and society, put into perspective some of the latest developments. We encourage you, if you have not already, to watch the recording, which has already been viewed more than 2,500 times since it was posted on Friday night. For those of you wishing to help, in addition to the opportunities shared by faculty, various news agencies have compiled non-exhaustive lists of organizations that are assisting the people of Ukraine, including NPR, the Washington PostForbes and Time.

Here on campus, we continue to see a small number of positive COVID-19 cases with 10 students currently in isolation. Although Ontario County remains at the CDC’s high level for community transmissions, the numbers are trending down and we hope to see the county reclassified soon. With the extension of the NYS Health and Essential Rights Act (HERO Act) through March 17, all employees should continue to perform daily wellness assessment checks through that date.

We wish everyone a safe and healthy week.

Sincerely,

Sarah Kirk
