Scenes from a Quiet Campus

Chief Photographer Kevin Colton captures a solemn, quiet campus. While it’s not unusual for Kevin to snap a moment of stillness — the sun rising over Bozzuto Boathouse while students sleep in, Smith Green before it’s filled with students, faculty and staff emerging from Stern Hall, or the Quad just before Reunion weekend — this time, the images evoke the solitude of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Though the beautiful surroundings of Geneva, N.Y., continue to shine, and we admire our campus facilities, they simply aren’t the same without the people who call this place home. And yet, when we look at these photos we are struck by how our desire to be together speaks to a strong and irrevocable bond.

These photos remind us all that we have a place — a home — waiting patiently for the time when we can move forward. Together.
