- In This Week in Photos, we look back at some of our favorite athletics photos from the semester. Here, Hobart celebrates after winning the 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championship. The Statesmen went 29-2-0 on their way to winning their first national championship in program history.
- William Smith lacrosse celebrates after winning their 7th straight Liberty League title. The Herons completed the season ranked third in the country, setting a program record for wins in a season, finishing the year with a 21-1 overall record.
- The William Smith Alpine skiing team celebrates after placing third at the USCSA National Championships held in Mammoth, Calif. Marjorie Plants ’25 and Caraline Gray ’23 were named to the All-America teams.
- Jeremy Sanchez ’26 awaits a pitch during the first game of a doubleheader between Hobart and Ithaca. Hobart baseball returned to the diamond this spring for the first time in 28 years.
- The HWS sailing team practices on Seneca Lake. The Colleges qualified for four of the seven national championships.
- Lauren DeVaney ’23 readies to take a jump shot against Bard. DeVaney was the second runner-up for the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar of the Year.
- Sean Pesin ’24 finished the year ranked No. 29 in the national singles after competing in the NCAA Division III Championship. Hobart tennis wrapped up the year at No. 13 in the Northeast regional rankings.
- The William Smith rowing team practices on Seneca Lake on a sunny afternoon. The Herons wrapped up the season with a pair of top 10 finishes at the New York State Championships.
- The William Smith squash team captured its fourth Liberty League title with a 9-0 win over St. Lawrence. The Herons (18-4 overall) finished the year 15th in the College Squash Association Rankings.
- Luke Ward ’26 passes through a gate on the giant slalom course at Bristol Mountain during the Mideast Regional Championships. Hobart finished fifth in the regionals.
- Kayla Ketchabaw ’25 redirects a shot on goal during William Smith’s game against the University of Southern Maine. Ketchabaw scored a goal in the game against the Huskies.
- With Head Golf Coach Chip Capraro, the William Smith College golf team poses for a group photo after finishing second in the Martin Division of Cortland’s Martin/Wallace Invitational.
- Hobart’s second varsity eight scrimmages Bucknell on the Cayuga Seneca Canal. The Statesmen concluded their season with a seventh place finish in the team standings at the National Invitational Rowing Championships in Worcester, Massachusetts.
- Mamadou Meite ’23 fires a shot during Hobart lacrosse’s season opener against Canisius. The Statesmen cruised to a 20-14 victory.
- One of the top bowlers in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, William Smith’s Amber Pidlypchak ’24 led the AMCC in split conversion this season and was ranked in the top 10 in several other stat categories.
- Sebi De La Vega ’24 reaches for a shot in a match against Colby. The Statesmen finished the season ranked 20th in the nation and received the Barnaby Award as the most improved men’s team.
- David Corrales Marco ’23 takes a three-point shot against Vassar. Hobart defeated Vassar 83-61 as it advanced in the Liberty League Men’s Basketball Tournament.
- Heron Jamie Fine ’24 returns a serve as the Herons took down Nazareth College 9-0 in Bristol Field House.
- Charlie Craig ’26 hits a drive during the Elmira Invitational. Craig finished tied for second at the tournament. He led the Statesmen in scoring average this season.
