Best of 2024
- In a special year-end edition of This Week in Photos, we selected one photo to encapsulate each month of the year. In early January, campus was blanketed with snow.
- In February – in anticipation of the Total Solar Eclipse – Associate Professor of Physics Leslie Hebb tested her telescope to examine sunspots with Andy Dinh '27. Yes, it really was warm enough in February for a t-shirt!
- Hobart hockey Captains Jonah Alexander ’24, Matthieu Wuth ’24, Artem Buzoverya ’24, Jared Patterson ’24 and Luke Aquaro ’25 raised the national championship trophy for the second time in March.
- During the inaugural HWS Day held in April, students joined an Africana dance performance led by Associate Professor of Dance and Movement Studies Kelly Johnson in the Great Hall of Saga.
- In May, Professor of International Relations Vikash Yadav, Lt. Col. John E. Norvell ’66, P’99, P’02, L.H.D. ’24, Dylan Rawlins ’16, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees Cassandra Naylor Brooks ’89, Jessica Knoll ’06, L.H.D. ’24 and Student Trustee Anjalee Wanduragala '25 waited for the start of the Commencement processional.
- Fireworks illuminated the sky during Reunion in June.
- Aboard the William Scandling this July, Jaylynn McCarthy ‘26 retrieved a sample from a plankton net to analyze under a microscope while doing research with the Finger Lakes Institute.
- The Class of 2028 formed their class year on Bristol Lawn in August during Orientation.
- Back in the classroom in September, students walked to class.
- The Northern Lights put on a spectacular showing over Seneca Lake in October.
- Students, faculty and staff gathered in the Vandervort Room for an election night watch party hosted by HWS Votes.
- In December, Ruth Hotaling ’26 hyped up the William Smith soccer team before their victory over Emory in the NCAA Final Four in Las Vegas.
