About the Event

The Finger Lakes Institute at Hobart and William Smith Colleges will be hosting the 2025 Finger Lakes Research Conference on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the HWS campus. This year’s program will focus on emerging environmental and human health issues within the Finger Lakes and surrounding watershed, and informed solutions that improve environmental quality in communities across the region. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and will include morning and afternoon guest speaker sessions, panel discussions and poster presentations.

Please register early, registration will close on Jan. 24, 2025, or earlier if we reach maximum capacity.

  • Early-bird Registration (ends 1/13/25): $75
  • Regular Registration (closes 1/24/25): $100
  • K-12 Teacher: $35
  • Student non-presenter: $35

Visitor Parking is available in the Medbury North Visitor Parking Lot, located on Pultney Street. Visitor parking passes will not be required the day of the conference.

Request for Presentations

We invite you to participate in the 2025 Finger Lakes Research Conference at Hobart and William Smith Colleges,  Thursday, January 30, 2025. 

Oral and Poster Presentation Abstracts

Please submit presentation abstracts for original research pertaining to water quality and the Finger Lakes. Specifically, we invite presentations on topics including, but not limited to, harmful algal blooms, watershed nutrient cycling, invasive species, climate change, and current and emerging contaminants.

  • Oral presentations will be 20 minutes in length with an additional 10 minutes for questions and answers. 
  • Poster presentations should measure no larger than 3’ tall x 4’ wide.  
  • Deadline for submission is Monday, November 11, 2024.  
  • All presenters will need to be a paid conference registrant.
