23 July 2021 • Alums Lawver '21 and Boland '21 Begin at Aon
Two recent graduates have accepted positions at Aon.
Delia Lawver ’21 and Julian Boland ’21 have landed full-time positions at Aon, a global financial services firm.
Starting later this summer, Lawver will serve as a business development specialist, conducting market research and forecasting. Boland has begun his post as a mergers and acquisitions specialist, working with private equity firms and researching target companies for potential acquisition. Both are assigned to the company’s New York City offices.
Lawver interned with Aon last summer and is looking forward to returning to the company. “My role gives me exposure to multiple groups within Aon, which makes it a perfect starting job. I’m excited to explore different paths within the company,” says Lawver, who credits her experience as an economics major with her success in the internship and in landing this permanent position. “My coursework at HWS taught me to think critically, which I found very helpful during my internship.”
Boland became interested in the firm after attending the New York City Finance Experience, a trip hosted by the Colleges to connect students with leading financial institutions. “Participating in the HWS Finance Society and the NYC Finance Trek introduced me to Aon and helped solidify my interest in the firm.” Boland majored in economics at the Colleges and held internships at several insurance companies, including Swiss Re, SageSure Insurance Managers and Insight Catastrophe Group.
“After completing these three internships, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in financial services,” says Boland. He says the position at Aon stood out because of the “breadth of knowledge about many facets of finance that it offers me early in my career.”
Both students took advantage of the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional, and Experiential Education and the broad Hobart and William Smith alum network during the application process. Boland is thankful for assistance he received from Peter Holz ’15, the vice president of Commercial IP Risk at Aon.
At the Colleges, Lawver was a member of the Heron lacrosse team, the Finance Society and worked for William Smith Game Management. Boland also participated in the Finance Society, as well as the Investment Club. As a member of Chi Phi Fraternity, he was the co-chair of community service and of alumni relations.
