14 June 2023 Reunion Gifts Top $7 Million

This year’s Reunion cycle also saw record-breaking support from milestone classes.

Hobart and William Smith saw $7,022,277 in gifts from nearly 1,000 alums celebrating milestone Reunions. Since their last milestone Reunion five years ago, HWS classes ending in threes or eights raised a total of $13,013,475 for the Colleges.

“Reunion is always an amazing time for alums to reconnect with one another and with Hobart and William Smith, and we are so grateful to those who celebrate their HWS pride by giving back to the Colleges,” says Vice President for Advancement Bob O’Connor P’22, P’23. “With a few weeks left in the fund year, the Colleges are on track to have the second-best fundraising year in the record books. Thank you to all who have made this such a successful year.”

Several new Reunion fundraising records were set this Reunion cycle.

With a total of $5,111,002, the Classes of 1988 shattered the record for the most raised in a 35th Reunion year. Since their 30th, they have raised $5,929,494, another record figure.

The Classes of 1983 set a 40th Reunion record, raising $1,204,069 this year and $3,030,621 since their last milestone Reunion.

The Classes of 2018 set a record for the most raised in a fifth Reunion, with $108,605 of support during the past year; they also set a record for the most contributed five years after graduating, with a total of $483,152.

The Classes of 1973 won the Founders Cup for the highest giving percentage, with nearly 40 percent of the Classes making a gift in celebration of their 50th Reunion.
