Raised in New York City, Paige Humphrey ’23 is now working with Barasch & McGarry, a law firm dedicated to assisting victims and families impacted by the September 11th attacks.
Growing up in Queens, Paige Humphrey ’23 saw the ongoing impacts that the 9/11 attacks had on her community. In 2023, she joined Barasch & McGarry, a law firm specializing in helping 9/11 victims and families get compensation and health benefits. Now, with a degree in political science and American studies, Humphrey is in a position to assist victims dealing with long term health complications due to the attacks.
Humphrey, who serves as a claims administrator, learned about the position through Madison Lyons ’21, an associate recruiter at the legal recruitment firm Tandym.
“When Madison told me she knew about a position with the firm, I was thrilled at the idea of working for an organization that does so much good for a cause that is very close to home for me,” shares Humphrey.
With an eye on law school, she says her “double major in political science and American studies has encouraged me and allowed me to see that I have the potential to get my J.D.”
“In my new position, I am constantly talking to clients and discussing difficult topics surrounding 9/11 related illnesses, so being a strong communicator is especially important,” says Humphrey, noting the skills she developed through her cocurricular experiences at HWS, including serving as an O’Laughlin Admissions Ambassador.
On campus, she also worked as a programming assistant for the Center for Global Education and studied abroad in the Czech Republic and India. Prior to her role at Barasch, Humphrey interned for the Baltimore Hunger Project.
