Through his summer internship, Brandon Sacchetti ’27, and six student interns from various colleges, pitched their ideas to Fidelity Investments Canada President.
This summer, Brandon Sacchetti ’27 launched his future in finance with an internship at Fidelity Investments Canada, where he competed in the company’s pitch contest. In the competition’s final round, Sacchetti’s team pitched to top-level Fidelity executives, including President Rob Strickland.
The competition was one facet of the summer-long internship, which Sacchetti says helped him build technical skills and professional confidence by working in departments across the organization. The panoramic experience gave Sacchetti insight into the fast-paced world of finance.
The contest was the icing on the cake, he says.
Nearly 100 interns at Fidelity Investments Canada participated in the pitch contest in teams. They were asked to develop strategies to reach investors more effectively. Sacchetti was one of key leaders of his group, which he says included six other students from across the organization.

Sacchetti’s team was one of three to advance to the finals. That meant traveling to Toronto to make their pitch to President Strickland and Senior Vice Presidents Dave Bushnell and Diana Godfrey. Sacchetti’s group placed second.
“Presenting in front of Fidelity’s executives was an incredible experience,” Sacchetti remarks. “It was definitely intimidating at first, but once we got into the presentation, we really hit our stride. It felt like the cherry on top of an already amazing internship,” he says.
Preparing for the competition required a substantial time commitment. “We met three to five hours per week, planning, preparing, building slide decks, gathering data from marketing teams and working with an assigned mentor to refine our ideas,” Sacchetti shares.
To secure the internship, Sacchetti connected with the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education. As a member of the Hobart hockey team, he also called on his former teammates now working in the industry, including Mateo Albinati ’24, a private bank analyst with Citigroup; Luke Aquaro’ 25, a sales and analytics associate at Bloomberg and Matthew Perryman ’25, a financial product analyst, also at Bloomberg.
Sacchetti is a two-year member of the Hobart hockey team, helping the Statesmen capture two national championships. A forward, he has played in 26 career games, recording 23 points on 12 goals and 11 assists. Sacchetti earned NEHC All-Academic recognition as a sophomore.
At Fidelity, Sacchetti benefited from a combination of structured training and hands-on projects. On the processing team, he managed cash and wire order transfers while learning the mechanics of Fidelity’s mutual funds.
No two days were alike, he says. Beyond his team responsibilities, Sacchetti took part in workshops on networking, etiquette and pitching. He shadowed advisor sales, worked in the marketing department and attended client networking events.
“Fidelity really made sure we were developing as students, not just as interns,” Sacchetti says. “Every week we had opportunities to build professional skills but also to see different sides of the business. That combination gave me a much clearer picture of the industry.”
