Vision
To equip Hobart and William Smith’s diverse faculty and staff to pursue funding in areas of scholarly and professional distinction in order to enrich the academic experience and enable high-quality learning opportunities. Through competitive research funding, HWS will lead liberal arts colleges in disseminating innovative research, scholarship, and creative activity in regional, national, and global communities.
Mission
To support the development and administration of externally funded grants, agreements, and related research functions for HWS faculty and staff. HWS will cultivate relationships with national and international funders and partners to help principal investigators connect their research programs and interests to its mission and strategic priorities.

- Protect faculty and staff time by investing in curated resources and tools that minimize the time required to complete grant-related obligations whenever possible.
