Explore the phenomenon of religion as well as religious traditions throughout the world with a major or minor in Religious Studies. You’ll study religion through different lenses including historical, theological, sociological and ethnographic and graduate with a diverse awareness of religion’s role in the lives of individuals and the greater society.

"Religious Studies has expanded my knowledge of different faith traditions, which has allowed me to better understand the foundations of various societies and how many choose to make meaning. One of my favorite classes has been "Torah and Testament," co-taught by Professor of Religious Studies Michael Dobkowski and Professor of Religious Studies Richard Salter, which explores seminal texts, fictional works and academic commentaries from Christianity and Judaism to explore the similarities and differences between these traditions.

I also had the transformative experience of participating in the biennial March: Bearing Witness to Hope Trip in Germany and Poland, which provided us with the opportunity to learn about pre-WWII Jewish life, the Holocaust, and engage in remembrance, preserving memory, and carrying it forward. Through the Religious Studies department, I have also become involved with the Human Rights and Genocide Symposium, which hosts events each semester to educate and engage our HWS community on issues relating to human rights."
