Covid-19

Testing

If you’re not feeling well, we recommend that you are tested for COVID-19 or the flu. The Hubbs Health Center offers rapid PCR testing for both. Health and Human Services will be offering free COVID-19 at-home tests which you can request via U.S. mail to be delivered to your Scandling box.  We will have limited amount of at-home tests available for distribution (without an appointment) at Hubbs Health Center beginning Monday, September 16.

Supplies (Masks, Hand Sanitizer)

If you test positive for COVID-19 and need masks or hand sanitizer, please contact the Office of Campus Life at (315) 781-3900. If you’d like to pick up a mask, they are available at Hubbs and Campus Safety.

Testing Positive

If you test positive for COVID-19, the CDC recommends following similar procedures for flu-like symptoms. As with other illnesses, you should notify your professor and rest. You may use Grab and Go for meal service and Campus Life can provide additional support, such as assistance with meal delivery, if you need. Simply e-mail campuslife2@hws.edu.

While students will often self-isolate, if alternate arrangements are necessary, please contact Campus Life. While we are not requiring routine COVID-19 testing, we encourage everyone to practice good hygiene, handwashing, covering your mouth and nose and wearing a mask if you’re ill. As there is no mandatory isolation period per CDC guidelines, you should return to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, symptoms are improving overall, and if a fever was present, it has been gone without use of a fever-reducing medication. CDC recommends wearing a mask for five days once returning to normal activities.

Flu & COVID-19 Clinics

  • Thursday, October 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Monday, October 21st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Monday, October 28th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

This year, HWS has also partnered with Wegmans to provide on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinics to students and employees. Clinics will also be held in the Bartlett Theatre in Coxe Hall on:

  • Thursday, October 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For COVID-19 vaccination, individuals will need to register and a link from the pharmacy will be e-mailed to the campus community closer to the clinic. This is required to determine the amount to bring to campus since specific storage protocols must be followed. The online scheduling link will also allow students or employees to add their insurance information.
