HWS Engage FAQ for Club and Student Organization Leaders

What is HWS Engage?
HWS Engage is a database that chronicles student organization profiles, membership rosters, events, and other engagement opportunities from around campus. All student clubs and organizations must be registered with updated information on HWS Engage to be recognized by the Colleges as a student organization.

HWS Engage also serves as our primary events calendar. All clubs and organizations must submit their events and activities (including meetings) through Engage. The Corq app, which is connected to Engage, is your best source for campus event information on the go! Download the Corq app from the App Store or Google Play for free.

Who needs to use HWS Engage?
All student clubs and organizations will need to use HWS Engage to be registered with the Office of Student Activities & Greek Life. This includes Greek organizations, clubs, club sports, and student organizations.

Why do I need to use HWS Engage?
HWS Engage is an incredible resource! Students can browse the site to learn more about organizations they are interested in. Clubs and organizations can also post photos, recruit members, message peers, and advertise events on the site.

How do I register my club?
Every registered club or organization has an Engage page set-up by the Office of Student Activities & Greek Life. Approved new clubs will also have an Engage page created. You’ll receive an invite from Engage to update your club page!

What about the Involvement Expo?
The Involvement Expo registration will take place through HWS Engage. We will inform you via email and through your HWS Engage profile when those registrations are available in mid-August and mid-January.

What is the process for New Clubs to register?
All new clubs must get approval from Hobart Student Government and William Smith Congress. To start the process, complete the New Student Organization Proposal Form on Engage. You’ll find it on the bottom right under “Campus Links.”. After approval, you’ll connect with your Student Engagement Advisor to create your account.

Who can update the information in HWS Engage?
Only the club or student organization president/primary contact can update the information in HWS Engage.

What is the difference between having club status and being a registered organization?
Recognition by Hobart and William Smith Student Government is what allows you to receive club status. Club status means that you are an approved club that can then by registered by the Office of Student Activities & Greek Life. The registration process for groups that receive Club Status is done through HWS Engage at the link “New Student Organization Proposal Form.”

What about Event Registration?
In your HWS Engage page, you’ll see a button “Create Event.” Click there to fill in the details of your event and submit. Once submitted, it will be reviewed by your Student Activities Advisor, approved, and will appear on HWS Engage.

I’m having trouble!
If you are a club leader or member, contact the Office of Student Activities & Greek Life for assistance with navigating HWS Engage. Call (315) 781-3880 or emailing activities@hws.edu.
