The Division of Campus Life is a group of collaborative offices, designed to complement HWS’s mission of preparing students to lead lives of consequence by cultivating a sense of belonging on our residential campus and assisting all community members to be connected to campus resources so they can thrive. Each office supports one of the division's strategic goals:

Cultivate Healthy Living

The Division of Campus Life ensures every student is aware of and can access holistic physical, mental, and community-based support systems that enable them to thrive academically, socially, and personally.  Campus and community providers support student wellbeing through the Counseling Center and Hubbs Health Center, ensuring access to high-quality health care and mental health resources. The Hubbs Health Center also serves as a hub for community-based providers, such as Psychiatry, FLACRA, and Safe Harbors. Campus Life also helps students develop their applied emotional intelligence skills through its Personal Empowerment curriculum.

Foster a Safe and Respectful Community

Campus Life cultivates a safe and respectful residential community where students can live, learn, and engage with each other. Campus Safety is available 24/7. Director of Community Values and Wellness Programs uses an educational and restorative approach to educate the community on healthy decision-making, harm reduction, and assists students to address harm and recognize how their behavioral choices impact community.

Empower Student Engagement and Leadership

Campus Life fosters meaningful connections to the HWS community by creating opportunities for students to participate, lead, and contribute to a relationship rich residential campus while developing critical intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.  Student Engagement (inclusive of Housing, Residence Life, Greek Life, and Student Activities) facilitates student-led events, programs, and leadership opportunities, supporting a dynamic calendar of educational, cultural, and social experiences that empowers our residential campus to be a space for learning, belonging, and community-building. A variety of student leadership positions, such as Community Assistants, Orientation Leaders and Mentors, help students hone their leadership skills while providing mentoring opportunities for new students. Through reflection and mentorship, Campus Life WORKS helps students translate their campus leadership and employment experiences into tangible professional skills.

Campus Life strengthens the HWS community through shared resources for all students and campus traditions that support the transition to HWS and mark key moments across the student experience. Campus Life supports the everyday experience and traditions that bring the HWS community together. Through essential resources, including dining, two radio stations (bridging national public radio with student-led programming), and The College Store, as well as milestone events and shared celebrations, the division helps create a vibrant campus culture that connects students to the institution from their first days with Orientation and Spark!, annual traditions like Winter Wonderland, through senior week and commencement.
